    Hollyhock is a two-year-old plant of Asian and European origin and it blooms during summer. This plant can be up to two meters high and has a range of purple, red, white, pink, and yellow. The flowers and roots of this plant have medicinal properties that are widely used in traditional Iranian medicine to treat various diseases.

     

     

    Uses of hollyhock

    Sore throat: Boiled hollyhock is a great version of traditional medicine for the treatment of sore throat. The Tea of this plant is made from seeds, roots, and flowers and sweetened with honey. You can drink this tea in order to treat dry cough and prevent throat irritation. 

    flu treatment: It can be useful for treating fever and colds. You can make this tea from seeds, roots, and flowers. This tea will help increase blood circulation and detoxification. In fact, this herbal tea will calm your body. 

    Reduce fever: Hollyhock helps relieve nosebleeds and treat the symptoms of a cold, which leads to a natural cure for fever. The best way to treat fever is to drink a cup of hollyhock.

    Respiratory problems: To treat respiratory problems such as asthma and nasal congestion, grind the root of hollyhock and make tea.

    Wounds healing: It has anti-inflammatory effects and reduces pain in wounds and bruises. For wound healing, you can boil the leaves of the hollyhock and apply them to the affected area.

    Cure snake bite: Apply crushed leaves of this plant to the affected area to help relieve snake bite discomfort and burns.

    Relieve herpes: For this treatment, mix the dried root and fresh flower with Dracocephalum and simmer for 5 minutes, then add some honey and drink for 3 days.

    Propagation methods and Growth management

    Sowing seeds is the most common method of propagation of this plant. This plant does not need much moisture and its soil should be slightly dry. So it needs watering once a week and in summer when the weather is hot, watering twice a week is enough.

    This medicinal plant is a favorite hummingbird and is susceptible to root rot. Avoid pouring water on the leaves, as it will cause the plant to rot. This plant needs a place with full sun and soil with enough rich drainage. Although the life of the hollyhock plant is short, it grows and flowers regularly under suitable conditions.
    In spring, prepare the plant for optimal growth using compost or fertilizer.
